Event Description

Join the Manatee-Sarasota Sierra Club's General Meeting!
Everglades National Park may be Florida’s best-known park, but did you know the state has 10 national park service units? Our speaker, a National Park Service veteran, will give us the inside scoop on those, including our own DeSoto National Memorial in Bradenton. Anne Castellina retired from the park service after 33 years as a ranger, historian, instructor and superintendent. She has worked in parks in Florida, New York, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Alaska.
Florida is fortunate to have a variety of national parks, from the unique Big Cypress National Preserve in South Florida to the Castillo de San Marcos Monument in St. Augustine, one of America’s oldest settlements. Come and prepare yourself for your next Florida adventure. Bring a friend and a dessert or snack to share.
Note the new meeting location:
The Sarasota Garden Club. From U.S. 41, turn west on Boulevard of the Arts, then right on Van Wezel Way. The Garden Club is on the right just before Holley Hall.—
